PSA - Gender Identity

PSA - Gender Identity
CSUS. Fall 2017. GPHD - 125.
This project was an assignment for GPHD 125 at California State University Sacramento. In this project, each student in the class has selected a Public Service Announcement (PSA) topic in which they are to research and then create a campaign of two posters highlighting this issue. The posters must have some sort of call to action message, meaning they must be thought provoking and urge people to do something about this issue. These posters were only to be done in black, white, and grey. This piece has been chosen to be presented in the spring show at sacramento state this spring, 2017.
We in the United States are taught by our society to think of gender as a binary concept. In reality, the spectrum is much wider than just male and female. This PSA about gender identity is aimed at helping individuals who don’t struggle with the issues involved in being transgender. The goal of this PSA poster campaign will be to encourage people to be more respectful and understanding of transgendered individuals. As a cisgendered person I am taking this opportunity to learn more about a subject I’m not extremely familiar with, in hopes of raising awareness for others as well.
